As an Educational Assistant / Early Childhood Worker with our RECS Program, you will become an important member of an interdisciplinary team working alongside Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Certified Teachers.

About the RECS Program

Our Remote Early Childhood Services (RECS) program supports young children who are unable to attend programming at Seden Centre. As an EA/Early Childhood Worker, you will provide individualized support and implement programming in a variety of off-site settings.

You will work closely with the Seden Centre team to help children work toward their developmental, communication, behavioural, social, and educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to children approximately 2.5–6 years of age.
  • Implement individualized programming and strategies developed in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Support children with developmental delays, speech and language difficulties, behavioural challenges, and other learning needs.
  • Assist children in developing communication, social, emotional, self-regulation, and early learning skills.
  • Work collaboratively with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Certified Teachers, families, and other professionals.
  • Follow through with therapeutic and educational recommendations within the child's daily environment.
  • Prepare materials and activities required for off-site programming.
  • Provide consistent, respectful, and child-centred support.
  • Adapt activities and strategies to meet each child's individual learning style, strengths, and needs.
  • Support children who may demonstrate complex or intense behaviours using positive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate strategies.
  • Maintain professional communication and documentation as required.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

  • Be able to follow individualized programming and implement strategies consistently.
  • Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Be comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Be open to learning from Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Teachers, and other professionals.
  • Be willing to support children whose behaviours may be complex or challenging.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.
  • Have a personal commitment to continued learning and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with young children is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with children with developmental delays, speech and language difficulties, or behavioural challenges is an asset.
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle are required, as this position involves providing services in off-site/community settings.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
